Our visit to the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) opened our eyes to Frank Romero's art work art work. Through his Retrospective, we saw many city-life paintings, cars, as well as communities of Latin American groups.
Frank Romero is an iconic Los Angeles artist of our time. His journey through the mediums of paintings, sculptures, prints, and ceramics recognize the Chicano Culture. Romero explores the urban mapping of the city's cultural terrain through the "confluence of American pop culture, Latin American heritage, and Chicano experience" (MOLAA). Throughout his career, Frank Romero focused his pieces on Chicano identity and the issues surrounding it - including police brutality. political issues, and gentrification.
Frank Romero is the founding member of the Los Four, a group that brought Chicano art to the mainstream world of art in 1974, Los Angeles. In a sense, legitimizing Romero's artwork on large freeway paintings and over two-hundred murals and paintings.
